That Could be a Lamb for All You Know; White Lion Cubs Born in Serbia
April 25th 2011 13:52
On Monday a lioness gave birth to six cubs, four of which were rare white cubs. It's estimated there are only 300 white lions world wide, six of which reside at the Belgrade Zoo in Serbia.
These lions aren't actually albino lions, as researchers initially thought. Their unusual fur color is actually caused by a recessive gene known as the color inhibitor gene. They range from blonde to white. When they were first discovered, it was thought that the color would inhibit their ability to survive in the wild, and a large majority of them were held captive, which honestly to me seems pretty racist. However research has shown that racists are ignorant, and white lions are just as capable as thriving on their own as regular lions.
See the video of the babies here.
I'd say please give me one, but I'm pretty sure my dog would just look like a tasty treat to these fur balls. He's kind of a pansy:
Tell me that wouldn't be eaten in 30 seconds.
