Oh, Japan; What the Hell?

April 28th 2010 16:11

I learned a valuable lesson today, and I felt it necessary to share it with the rest of you: never underestimate the weird shit that goes on in Japan. Just when I thought I'd seen the worst of it with the ganguro trend, I found the little gem above.

Meet Shoko Nakagawa. She's apparently some sort of pop culture celebrity in Japan and has quite the following of fan girls. She also apparently really loves animals. Like a lot. And while I never really considered bugs animals because that would make me feel bad when I smash the hell out of them with a magazine, Shoko apparently does not discriminate with her love. She frequently displays her collection of cicada shells in her hair. Because of her huge following, there's some talk about whether or not this could become some sort of disturbing new trend.

She also has a pretty popular blog but unfortunately I was unable to find it because I speak English, and therefore was clicking links like an illiterate while trying to navigate the Japanese blogging site. Your scribbles mean nothing to me, dammit!
