Death of the Happy Meal: California Takes Toys From Large Children
April 29th 2010 12:20
Because of the large rise in obesity as of late (i.e. the last two decades) California has decided it needs to step in. In the county of Santa Clara, fast food establishments are now banned from using toys in their kids meals to bribe children to eat their fatty foods. If the meal is over 485 calories, no toy for you!
Despite the fact that the ordinance won 3-2, polls have shown that citizens do not think that this issue is an important one. In fact, many are downright pissed that the government is getting involved with their eating habits.
While I must admit that I am not a fan of rotund children (or children in general), I'm also not a fan of government officials that completely miss the issue. Let's take a look at this whole debacle logically. 1. Children don't get to choose where they eat, parents do. 2. If a child wants a meal because it comes with a toy, parents can say no. 3. Children cannot drive and are poor little leeches, therefore they cannot go purchase said meals themselves, so parents do.
So the obvious issue here is parents and their douchebaggery. Obvious solution? No more children. America apparently is not ready to be knocked up.

There are so many things they can do to drop obesity rates in their country - but they choose the easy way out.
