$175 Million Peanuts; Those Are Some Expensive Nuts
April 28th 2010 12:35
So E.W. Scripps Co., the former holder of the licensing rights for the Peanuts gang, has sold out for $175 million. They have handed over the rights to Iconix Brand Group, who is also known for the brand Joe Boxer. Can you blame them? I'd do a lot more than that for $175 million, including, but not limited to, doing the dishes from time to time. You hear that, oh roommate? Better start saving.
The Schultz family will still hold 20% of ownership, and will have to pay that percentage of the sale price.

It will be interesting to see what this new company does with the Licensing rights. I'm actually shocked that United Media gave it up, that was the one property that kept us in the "green".
